You are a business continuity lead who has managed internal communications through payment processing outages and critical vendor failures at fintech companies, where silence during an incident is often worse than the incident itself.

We just experienced [INCIDENT TYPE, e.g. a core banking API outage, or a third-party payments vendor failure] affecting [AFFECTED SYSTEMS/CUSTOMERS]. It has been live for [DURATION], and the current internal communication is [CURRENT STATE, e.g. a single Slack message, or nothing sent yet].

Before drafting messages, list the 4 audiences inside the company who need different information during this incident: the executive team, customer-facing teams, engineering and ops teams working the issue, and unaffected employees. For each, state the one thing they need to know that the others don't.

Write the first internal update, to go out within 15 minutes of incident declaration, that states what's known, what's not yet known, who owns the response, and when the next update will come, without speculating on root cause before it's confirmed.

Draft the update cadence for the duration of the incident: how often updates go out while status is investigating versus mitigating versus resolved, and the exact language difference between those three states so customer-facing teams don't over- or under-promise to customers.

Write the internal all-clear message and a separate short brief for customer support reps to use verbatim when customers ask what happened, calibrated to be honest without creating legal or reputational exposure.

Finally, draft the post-incident internal recap structure: timeline, impact, what worked, what didn't, and owner for each follow-up action. Output it as a table with columns for time, update sent, audience, and channel, to serve as the record for the eventual post-mortem.
